Just had a look on the census image. It's Low Team - now the Team Valley area Smiley

Low Team, Dunstan, Whickham, Durham

Gadget

Could the original queried place be Orton Rigg, SW of Carlisle?

Sorry, my fault Smiley

I didn't make myself clear.  On the 1841 census, they are actually living at Whickam, Durham.  So the Low Huh would be in Durham, not near Wetheral.

I think you probably have it there Gadget.  Orton Rigg, said with a Cumbrian accent to a Durham person could have sounded like 'Attrick/Uttrick'.

Hi Elizabeth  Smiley

I think there was some confusion  Undecided

Rosemary (subaru) found a possible for the family in 1841 living at Low ?, Whickham, Durham. Then bingorudd suggested Low Road.
Neither postings referred to the original Cumberland place name so I just wanted to clarify things.

Regards

Just a thought - can you get any of their birth certificates which may give the place name more accurately.

Thank you to all who have replied here...sorry i didn't get back sooner...been on holiday! Thanks especially to Gadget... I think its very likely to be Orton Rigg...right area, near enough to Wetheral where her husband was from. The Great Orton records are on the IGI but sadly she didn't seem to marry there so may be another brick wall till I can find her maiden name...still I'll know where to look now.  Cheesy
Rosemary....Yes that was the right 1841 address...they moved to Durham between 1838 and 1840.
Judy.....Elizabeth was born in c 1794 so before birth certs, but thanks to all for your suggestions.

If you get a birth cert of one of the later (after 1837) COPELAND children, it will give the mother's maiden name.  That may enable you to find the baptism of a suitable Elizabeth on the IGI.
