Hi,

Seeking any info on the following family :-

George C ETHELL borm 1913 Fleetwood,Lancs,UK.  married Iris ? in Durban SA, and died c1980 in Durban SA.

George's father & mother were Benjamin ETHELL & Margaret Ann SMITH.

The ETHELL surname is fairly thin on the ground in SA, if NAAIRS references are anything to go by. If your George died as recently as 1980, of course, there wouldn't be a deceased estate ref for him (in Natal estates up to 1974 are referenced on NAAIRS).
However, you could try tracing his marriage in Durban: see more about the Natal Marriage Index Project at
http://www.genealogyworld.net/interest/summary.htm
where there's a link for contacting the project leader - free look-ups available. I take it that you don't have the bride's maiden name? No matter, a search on the groom's name plus her forename should do the trick. Provide the volunteers with as much info as you can.
There are more recent ETHELLs listed on NAAIRS, including divorce files - could be descendants of George.
