Where Are They Tried?
« on: Sunday 05 August 07 14:30 BST (UK) »

Hi All,

I have "lost" some of my lot - who I think may have finished up in other countries - from which port would Herts folk have left?

Cheers

Keith

Hi Keith

I can't help with ports of embarkation but I can help with transportees from 1784-1866.  Any good?

Hi Rick

Not sure what I have is the same as you have?

I do have "Australian Convict Index, 1788-1868" - from Ancestry - but most of my lot were last found in Herts - so would there they left port from?!

Cheers

Hi Keith

My information is from a different source.  It gives the name of the ships but not the port of embarkation I'm afraid.  If your rellies were tried in Herts, then they should be there.

There is a publication at HALS by Ken Griffin.  I think it is called "Beyond the Seas" listing all Hertfordshire transportees.  Think it is also possible to purchase a copy.  Fantastic document from which you will glean loads if your ancestors were indeed transported.
