Who Married Hannah?:Complete
« on: Sunday 05 August 07 18:36 UTC (UK) »

I have a Hannah Salkeld,Born 4th May 1788,Bongate,Appleby,

According to IGI she was married to Simon Hall 15th Nov 1810, at Bongate,
BUT, low and behold, she married Samual Hall  on the same day, same place,
Myself i think she wed Simon and the Sam bit is mis transcribed,(dare i say that)

Hi Brian,

The extracted record says Samuel. Among the 2 submitted records, one says Samuel as well, and the other one says Simon. I'd go with the extracted record.

... especially as there seem to be children christened to Samuel and Hannah (Christopher Hall 11 Dec 1814 for instance)

 Smiley

added: or even better: Agnes Hall, 15 Sep 1811, parents Samuel Hall and Hannah Salkeld

Hi Brian,

The PR entry is quite clearly Samuel, although there was a mistake on the third letter of his name, which had been crossed through, but the 'muel' followed. The entry reads:

Sa..muel Hall, batchelor, and Hannah Salkeld, spinster, both of this Parish were married in this parish Church by the publication of banns /no 128 page 26/ this fifteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten by Harrison Shaw, vicar. This marriage was solemnized between us Samuel Hall X his mark, Hannah Hall late Salkeld X her mark. In the presence of us John Atkinson, Lancelot Slee.

Hope this clarifies the situation.

Regards
