Hi, All,

I have a Thomas Hay, born 1821 in Kirkudbright, living in 1881 at 10 Moss View, Poulton village, Poulton cum Seacombe, listed as a jobbing gardener, and an Elizabeth Huntington (nee Hay), born 1843 in Scotland, living in 1881 at 13 Moss View, Poulton village, Poulton cum Seacombe.  Can anyone tell me, please, if they were brother and sister.

It looks like Elizabeth was Thomas' neice

1881 Thomas/Annie have neice Annie Huntington age 16 and nephew William Huntington age 10 with them

1871 Annie Huntington age 6 is described as granddaughter

Thanks for that.
I did wonder if Thomas Hay was Elizabeth's father. he is too old to be her brother.  I never thought of him as her uncle.

In 1871 I have Elizabeth in Wallasey.  I can't see the address.

Thomas Huntingdon  26 Farm labourer   Wallasey
Elizabeth                   31                          Dumfries Scotland
Thomas Son                3                          Poulton cum Seacombe
Alexander Son             2                         Poulton cum Seacombe

In 1881 there is no mention of Alexander.

Their name has changed at times from Huntingdon to Huntington.

They married in Birkenhead in 1865, according to Cheshire BMD, as Huntington.

Thomas Steen Brother 19 Unmarried Labourer oil mill Birkenhead
Charles Steen Bro/in/law 21 marr Liscard
Agnes Steen (nee Huntingdon) sis/in/law marr 20 Wallasey

I know who the Steens are.  Charles, 21 was actually the brother of George, Head, but I can find nothing on John and Thomas aged 19. 
Any ideas?
