Hi am looking for infomation or any leads on Julia Gough born Meath 1841, I have unfortunately not got any information on exact place of birth. Her parents were Thomas Gough and Julia McDonald.
I believe they came to Australia.
Information I have is very sketch I am sorry for that.
Sincerely
Clare

Exactly what information are you hoping to find? There will likely be more details on Australian certificates than you will be able to get in Irish records. If the parents did go to Australia their death certificates might list parents, children, etc.

Thanks for your prompt reply I was hoping I may find a Marriage date and Place for them and the county they may have come from.
I will follow up on Death Certificates for them although I don't know which state they came to.
I also was looking for any records they may tell me when they came to australia. I am of the opinion they came as free citizens.
Once again thanks for your reply.
One day I may be lucky enough to come to Ireland and see where they came from.

Civil registration of Protestant marriages in Ireland began in 1845 and Catholic marriages 1864, far too late for Julia's parents. For earlier information you need to know an area (County, Parish and preferably townland), locate churches in the area and then check to see whether the church records still exist for the period you need.
Best route at the moment is Australian sources- death certificates, marriage certificates, birth certificates, gravestone inscriptions (often give place or county of birth in Ireland) and cemetery records, etc.

Thanks so much for the advice saves me a lot of web searching on Irish sites. I will let you know how I get on with my research in Australia. I know Julia married my GGGrandfather in Maffra Victoria and know his line quite well as he was from Hertfordshire but have no idea where Julia and her family came into Australia. I start with her death certificate. Her marriage certificate to my GGGrandfather said she was from Meath that is how I got to you.
Cheers Clare
Hope you are well. I love this site it is marvellous.
