I have managed to trace Romany Gypsies in my family through the census's, but I cannot trace my Grandfather, his brothers and their parents before the 1901 census!!
I have done this before, but not for a long time. Here goes.
I have found them on the 1901 census living in Sevastopol (actually Sebastopol), Capel, Kent.
There is:
Alfred Green 47, Born Hertford, Hertfordshire Charles Green 11, Born Hertford, Hertfordshire Kellick (Frederick) Green 18, Born Hertford, Hertfordshire Rose Green 41, Born Hertford, Hertfordshire William Green 19, Born Hertford, Hertfordshire
They were farm workers.
The information I have taken from the sons' marriage ages make their birth years as follows (ignoring the census).
There is a marriage recorded for an Alfred GREEN in the June quarter 1879 Hertford District V.3a P.481 with the chance of the spouse being Rosa CHILDS. Could be worth making further enquiries.
