Barbara, In answer to your question about the marriage certificate, I transcribed it exactly. I made a scan of the marriage certificate but I haven't been able to attach it even though it says I can.

Also, I took a look at the WWI Military records on Ancestry but didn't find one that was definately Charles Elias.

I'll leep looking.
