Hi Rosemary

I don't have any Edwards in my tree now, I have 6 generations of Johns though  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Do you have any siblings that may tie them into a line.  Apparently I have been told there are at least 3 separate Payne families in East Grinstead.

Hi rosemary  Smiley,

John payne was my 5x great granddad and his wifes name was Christian or Christiane Tutt, John was born I think in Chichester Sussex in 1725.  I think i might have found his father whos name was William Pain or Payne born c1700 also of Chichester Sussex and his Mother Anne Weston also of Chichester born round c1704.

Hi Everyone

Hope I can join this thread.

I have Paine/Paynes from Lingfield Surrey who must be related to the East Grinstead Families.

Richard Pain m Elizabeth White 22 June 1690 in Lingfield, but I can't find any trace of him before that, I'm sure he crossed the county border.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks
Pauline
