Hi
Looking for information on Osmond Turner and his parents and their families please.
Osmond born 1908 Queen Street Darfield. Parents George Turner and Elizabeth Ogden Turner (nee Tipping).
Have possible date of birth for Elizabeth as 1880. George may have had a brother Enoch?
Thanks

Hi Mytree - Welcome to RootsChat
I see George and Elizabeth married after the 1901 census (December quarter 1904, Barnsley 9c 411, Elizabeth Tipping - George Turner) which is a shame as they will be harder to spot on census.
This however should be Elizabeth in 1901: RG13/4319 18 26 Darfield, Yorkshire 10 Queen Street 4 rooms occupied Rowland Tipping, head, 52, Coal Miner Hewer, b. Derby Winniefield Jane, wife, 50, b. Barnsley John Wm, son, unm, 22, Coal Miner, b. do. Elizabeth, dau, 20, b. do. Zillah, dau, 10, b. do. Margaret, dau, 7, b. do.

(Give me a shout if you want me to trace this family back a little more ...)

Osmond was born at 12 Queen Street - so i can check on the 1901 census to get an approximate dob for George. Thank you again.

Well, 1877 Barnsley if the George I found is the correct one
Problem is I can't spot him in 1881 for now. There's a possible on the 1891 census but no Enoch

Thank you so much, this is such a helpful site, only joined today and people have been marvellous.
Enoch is only a possibility not a confirmed relative - so every chance the info you have supplied may be what i am looking for.
Your input is appreciated.
Thank you

I really can't find George in 1881
So - here are the Tippings:
1891 RG12/3781 16 25 Worsborough Green, Yorkshire 4 Taylor Row Rowland Tipping, head, 44, Coal Miner, b. Derbyshire Clay Cross Jane, wife, 40, b. Worsbro Green George, son, 18, Coal Miner, b. Barnsley Joseph, son, 16, Coal Miner, b. do. Catherine, dau, 14, b. do. John W, son, 12, scholar, b. do. Elizabeth, dau, 10, b. Worsbro Green Lilly, dau, 8, b. do. Zillah, dau, 1mo, b. do.
(next door there's a Samuel Ogden age 75 with wife Mary age 69 and son William age 33 - let's see if we meet them again as we go back in time )

Hi Tati
Eliza not Elizabeth, if she used this shortened version of her name would they have been allowed to register her death with that, rather than Elizabeth?
I have Francis TIPPING 1845 Mar Qtr Vol 19 P413 for marriage. do do 1884 Jun Qtr Vol 7b P404 for death aged 76 -dob c1808
I have:Rowland TIPPING
1872 Jun Qtr Barnsley Yorkshire WR Vol 9c p206
and 1890 Sept Qtr Barnsley Yorkshire WR Vol 9c P288 for marriages.
For Death i have 1915 Dec Qtr Age 64 Barnsley Yorkshire WR Vol 9 p348 which would suggest 1851 for DOB
Only DOB i have found so far is 1847 Jun Qtr Chesterfield vol xix p 4?1
I know that there can be age discrepancies but by 4 years?
Also Parish Registers - i looked at but not sure i understand... the search brought up highighted 'Rowland' with several numbers after it 24, 28, 29 etc highlighted 'Tipping, William', 453
Is this an index to pages i should look at in the Parish register?
Any futher help your happy to give would be appreciated thank you.
