Audrey,

I'll have a search and see if I find anything.

You would have thought it would have been on Scotlands People. As you will know, they didn't have to register births, marriages before 1851.

 Audrey,

Have done some searching but not found James Douglas & Jessie/Jean marriage.

However, there was a William Dalzell & Jean Mein marriage on Scotlands People - married in Dumfries 1823.

Unfortunately, there is a problem topping up my credit. If I could get access to this, it would tell me their parents and know if it is your Jean/Jessie.

Will try again later.

Thanks Audrey.

The reason I was keen to look at this William is, they had a son John who, could have been named after William's father.

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply regarding William Mein. That would be nice if Jean Mein is your GG Grandmother. Jeans father, William Mein who married Janet Gracie, were my GG Grandparents.
They had a daughter Margaret, who is my GGrandmother.

I beleive this is your GG Grandmothers headstone inscription.

Also JOHN his son who died 10th July 1857 aged 25 years also JOSEPH his son who died 26th April 1858 aged 14 Also JEAN MEAN his spouse who died Novr.21st 1863 aged 61 years Also the above WILLIAM DALZELL who died 16th April 1872 aged 68 years.

My mistake, I meant to say he may have worked around Kirkton and not born there. It is possible he worked at the quarry.

Hopefully get back to you soon.

I have got William's death details. His father was a Blacksmith so, it is possible the last info was your William.

Not sure how to attatch his death details to the message.

You're welcome.

Have attached Williams death details, which gives you his parents and cause of death.

William and Jean were married on the 2nd. February 1823 at Kirkton.

That seems to be all for now.
