He was very straightforward - all years up to 1881 were there, no fiddling around !

Whats the story on his name then ?   Tongue

Don't know yet - still investigating. Only just discovered him recently but there must be a story behind a name like that!

Dear Kay,

I saw your message re Mander Hadder.  My maiden name was Hadder and I have been compiling my family tree for several years.  Is Mander a relative of yours?  He was christened Mander, which was the maiden name of his mother Caroline.

There are also three other Hadders on the Tree called Mander - Richard Mander  (born 1860), William Mander (born 1890 and was killed in the third battle of Arras in 1917) and my grandfather, Vivian Mander Jones (born 1879).

Could I be of any further help to you?

Best regards

Jane

Hi Jane,

As you probably noticed I have only just started on this branch of the tree.  Mander Hadder was the husband of my 1st cousin 4 times removed!  Not so close as your connection.  He was married to Ann Powell.

I thought perhaps the Mander was a surname as I have a few more in my tree using the mothers maiden name.  I had his mother as Caroline so I can now add Mander to her.  Do you have a marriage date for them?

I have Richard Mander Hadder b. 1860 but not William 1890 or Vivian 1879 so would be interested in anything that you have on them please.

Regards

Dear Kay,

I am afraid I do not have a marriage date for Jonathan Hadder and Caroline Mander.  William Mander Hadder was killed in WW1, but my grandfather Vivian Mander Jones Hadder died on 10 Sep 1959.  William Mander had a brother Vivian, who was killed in the first battle of the Somme in 1916.

Best regards

Hi Jane

Williams brother Vivian must have been the one I found then.
Many thanks
