I have an ancestor who came to Australia via the ship Moffatt 3. Details as follows:
Moffatt (3) Departure Port: Portsmouth / Plymouth Departure Date: 14 Aug 1842 Arrival Port: Hobart Arrival Date: 28 Nov 1842
The Surgeon's Journal is meant to be available on AJCP microfilms. I was wondering if anyone has access to these and could look up the following convict:
Silas Cole
B: 1821 - Hampshire, England
On the 24th February 1842 Silas was convicted for 'housebreaking' and stealing a piece of bacon and apples and for poaching a drake and fishing at Northampton/Southampton, England. He was sentenced to 10 years and transported to Australia as a convict via the ship Moffatt III. The ship departed Portsmouth/Plymouth, England on 14 Aug 1842 and arrived at Hobart on 28 Nov 1842.
Thanks in advance, Jeune.
