William Wade marriage Uppingham complete

Hi,

I would like to find the marriage of William Wade to Mary ?, which I think took place in Uppingham between 1809 & 1824.

Also his birth c1791 Uppingham.

Thanks for any help at all.

Hi LauraEJ,

Your post caught my attention because Uppingham is mentioned in the will of my ancestor Jeremiah Wheate, and there is a listing under Rutland Wills for "William Wade of Castle Bytham Lincolnshire and Mary Wheat" . . . maybe there is a family connection somewhere there  Huh

There is an entry in the 1841 census for Uppingham:
William Wade 52 Butcher born in county
Mary - do - 49 born out of county
William - do - 10 born in county

still looking . . .  Smiley

In the 1851 they're at at Hog Hill, Uppingham:
William Wade 60 Gardener b.Uppingham
Mary Wade 58 b.Yorkshire

Can't find them in 1861. No luck with anything else I'm afraid. Maybe someone with access to Rutland Parish records will be able to help.

The 1841 address was also Hog Hill.

If it is of any interest, The William Wade of Castle Bytham married Mary Wheate of North Luffenham, Rutland 17 Feb 1792. Their son William was christened 22 May 1798, Castle Bytham.

While I have the fiche and fiche reader out I am making the most of it!

Uppingham Baptism
26 August 1788 - William son of Matthew and Elizabeth WADE.

Still searching for William's marriage to Mary??? for you without luck.

I note from Mike's reply about the Wade 1851 census disposition that Mary was from Yorkshire. The marriage may be elsewhere....

Thanks for finding that baptism for me - another big leap back!

re Mary from Yorkshire, I think the marriage was most likely in Uppingham because the Wades had been there for at least a couple of centuries by then. Doesn't preclude him travelling away and coming back again of course, but it does make it less likely that he grew up elsewhere. I take your point though, and as you haven't found the marriage, then that is my next possibility. It helps as much to have something ruled out sometimes.

It's really kind of you to keep looking for these records. You will know that one of the hardest things in family reasearch is to find mother's maiden names, so this marriage is a real help.
