Dudley Davies 1902-1903 School records
« on: Friday 24 August 07 21:13 UTC (UK) »

In the autumn of 1902 [ Sept 29th] my grand parents lost their posts as school master and school mistress at Llanfechain School. Grand father Francis John Davies's first wife died February 1895, her sister Sophia Dudley and he may have illegally got married. This resulted in family being turned out of the school house, Sophia Dudley and grand fathers four children I believe went to the Workhouse, children, Beatrice Dudley Davies 1837, Olive Nesta  Dudley Davies 1890, Archiebold Dudley Davies 1893, Millicent Dudley Davies.  I am not sure which Workhouse, whilst in the workhouse grand mother had a son, Francis which was cruelly taken from her and placed with adoptive parents. Grand father may have been treated likewise or he maybe have been charged with bigamy and maybe jailed. After the law was changed in 1907 he was accepted back in the teaching profession, after legally  getting married, it was considered they had not committed an offence. Can you please help me, have you any such information. A reply would be very welcome. Many thanks Eric Davies.

The above family went to live in Worstershire, after a short spell in the work house, sometime after September 30th 1902. From school records can any one tell me where they stayed and for how long? They were back in Montgomeryshire by 1905.
I look forward to some kind person helping me fill this small gap in my families history, Kind regards, Eric.
