Charlotte Ferguson
« on: Friday 24 August 07 23:52 BST (UK) »

Hello to all, wondering if their is any information on the late Charlotte Ferguson born Kent Herne Bay aged 42 in the 1851 Census. She later married a Mark Dewbery on the 11/8/1828 in the Old Church St. Pancras London. I was wondering if it is possible to obtain the marriage, birth certificates, no doubt they would be held in the London Archives. Any help is always appreciated. Thanks,

Hi Janet,

There will not be certifcates as such; that did not start until 1837, but there will be parish registers for baptisms, marriages and burials.  As Charlotte was born in Herne Bay, Kent I would think her baptism record is in Kent but her marriage record should be in London.

Hi Janet,

Information varies from census to census; 1841 had basic details and from then on increasing information.   Which year or years are you interested in?

Hello Nanny Jan, Thanks for your reply if possible would the year 1841 or 1851 Census be available, after that Charlotte husband Mark Dewbery  and family came out here to Australia in 1853 aboard the Bussorah Merchant with 4 children ranging from Charlotte 24, John 14, Amelia 12, and Matilda 2. Thanks for your help and have a nice day.

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all well, I have purchased the immigration records from here in Sydney Australia and the information shows that Charlotte Dewberry (nee Ferguson) parents are David and Mary Ferguson both deceased on the immigration record. Charlotte's husband Mark Dewberry parents are also listed James and Mary Dewberry also deceased on the immigration record. On my previous information I have been given that his parents were James and Sarah? Can anyone help out please? hope that you all have a great day and keep safe.

Regards,
Janet

Hi Janet

I can check out the 1828 marriage entry for you on one of my next trips to the London Metropolitan Archives (see my posts at the top of the London & Middx boards)

As the marriage was pre-1837 civil registration, the fathers won't be specifically identified unless they acted as witness and you recognise the names.

Hi Janet, go to http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp select "International Genealogical Index", insert David Ferguson and Mary as parents in Kent and you will find 5 girls baptised to them in Herne Wink
