Aylesbury Parish Records - BATES
« on: Sunday 26 August 07 00:10 BST (UK) »

John and Francis Bates were living in Church End, Haddenham, Aylesbury for the birth of Ann Bates in 1820 and were there until at least the 1841 Census.

I am interested to find out whether there are parish records for Aylesbury, what the church's name is, and whether there is any other bates family in Aylesbury.

John was baptised in Marsworth.  His wife Francis died in Aylesbury in 1874.

The two children I know of Ann (1820) and Will (1826) were both born in Aylesbury.  I know nothing about Will.

Ann married Samuel Rose and had at least one daugther Alice J Rose (1858 Ealing Middlesex).  I think Ann died before the end of 1862.  According to the 1881 Census samuel rose was a carpenter/builder and undertaker.

John also has a father named John and a mother named Susana.

I would be interested in any information about the BATES family in Aylesbury.

Many thanks!

You may find some useful information here:

Looks like the parish church is St Mary's. A nice picture of it:

thankyou for all the help

wozzle's first post is the family.

the other three - thomas, mary and elizabeth are all names throughout the following generations - but I guess we cant assume that they are related yet

Does anyone have the ability to check with church records for baptisms and marriages?

the photo of that st Mary's church is quite lovely.

I wonder who Anne belongs to?  She probably doesn't belong to their daughter Ann (married a rose??) so I guess it could be Will but he doesnt seem to be arround.

and isnt Orlando an unusual name for those times!

Can I ask where Cuddington is in relation to Marsworth, Aylesbury, Haddenham and Tring???

   Hi .....

Cuddington is just over the A418 from Haddenham about 5 minutes away.

Have re-checked Ann on my Bucks 1851 and she is ...Ann Rose.
