Farnborough, Berkshire or Hampshire
« on: Monday 27 August 07 06:19 UTC (UK) »

Can someone tell me when Farnborough was in Berkshire and when it became Hampshire?

Your problem arises because there are two Farnboroughs.  One which has always been in Hampshire famous now for its airshows.  There is another one in Berkshire just north of Newbury.

Just to confuse matters, there are another two places called Farnborough - one in Kent and another in Warwickshire!

The Farnborough registration district was a cross-border district - it included parts of Surrey and a very small part of Sussex.  The district no longer exists.

If we are starting to count them there are two more in Oxfordshire.  One near Wantage and one near Banbury
