I am trying to find John Bloxham Sewell and his family in the census of 1861 In the 1871 Census he was located at: Parish: Leamington, Town Leamington John Sewell Head 44 Brewer Born Byfield, Northamptonshire Anne Sewell Wife 49 William B Sewell Son 14 Scholar Born Leamington, John Sewell Son 10 Scholar Born Leamington Thomas Allan Lodger 51 Brewer Nuneaton, Warwick
As John, the Head, remarried in 1865 in Leamington Priors, Warwick, the first wife must have died prior to 1865, he may therefore may be a Widower but I am unable to find out much more from over here! Any help would be appreciated. Bram Taylor Australia

Hi Bram, In case you didn't already have this which I noticed this whilst looking for your other family:
John Bloxham son of Thomas & Mary Sewell of Byfield, butcher, bpt 6 August 1827 at Chalcombe.
It looks as though this John and family were probably in Leamington in 1861 as his son John was born there and is 10 in 1871? perhaps you could try posting on the Warwickshire board in case anyone there is able to do a lookup for you.
regards byron

Hi Sandy Thanks for that information, much appreciated. I am trying to put together the SEWELL family of Byfield, Chacombe which is my mothers paternal side. It is a bit hard from over in Australia when you can not just 'drop in' to search the records yourself! This Fellow John Bloxham SEWELL had a first wife and two children by her before she died and he re-married in 1865 in Leamington Priors. The trouble is that I can not find this first wife, the mother of his children! His children were: William Bloxham Sewell, Bap. 19 October 1856, Leamington and; John Thomas Sewell, Bap. 26 October 1858, also at Leamington. I THINK his first wife was named Ann and the second was Anne Simcox who he married 7 December 1865, again in Leamington. If you spot them in your travels I would be very grateful to hear about it!! Thank again
Regards, Bram Taylor

Hi, It's Denise in Middleton Cheney
Have been reading your postings with interest and I think things have been confused, I may be wrong, there seems to be some confusion with Hannah Bennet from Chacombe and John Sewell - what do you think?
In 1881 your John Sewell appears to be in Leamington living with his son and daughter in law - am I right?
There appears to be several John Sewells at the time, the Sewells were a most prolific family with several branches all having children at the same time with the same names??? Most confusing???
Waiting to hear from you.
Kind regards from damp Middleton Cheney and cold with a power cut this am.
Denise

Hi Bram
Have you noticed this lot? Possibly one or more of them are yours? Sadly we have no idea who married who-unless the subsequent censuses are checked. I know there are only 5 names- it looks very much like those under different letters of the alphabet have just not been transcribed yet.

Hi Carol
Thanks for that effort, the first lot are certainly the ones I want so I will try and get the marriage certificate for that marriage , to the first Ann. And the second lot, well, my grandfather, William Thomas Sewell was born in Daventry so I will have a closer look at them, possibly cousins or whatever. Thanks for that, much appreciated, again!
