Yet again i find more Publicans in the family now a total of 9 ! Bozzey lot ! I dont know if this is possiable at all as i cant remember how much info is given on the 1851 Census ? James Stubbs married Susannah Stubbs Braunston 1849 James`s father is James Stubbs, Publican Braunston wife Elizabeth (could be from Warwickshire) Susannah`s father is Samuel Stubbs, Publican Braunston. A) are they still there in 1851 B) can we identify the pubs ? in the 1881 census i have found at least 5 pubs there ! No Stubbs as the family is in Northampton by then. Regards Ian

Hi Ian,
This is from www.historicaldirectories.org which has the following in Pigot's 1841 directory:
Taverns & Public Houses - Anchor, Mary Stubbs, Braunston.
Sounds like one of yours
I'll try & get a look at the 1851 census for you this week.
regards byron

Hello Byron Yes it could well be one of them, although i cant find where she fits in to the tree. She could be Samuels wife, but he was still alive in 1849, Unless they had more the 2 pubs ! Or its a daughter that i have not found before ! Thank you for that info and thanks for going to have a look at the 1851 Census By the way i have now got the Northamptonshire Marriage Index for 1837 to 1850 with most marriages in the county if anyone needs any info from that. Reagards Ian Markie

Hi Ian
I have just looked at Alan's site whilst at our son's house (he has broadband not dial like me 0
I have the 1754-1837 and will more than likely get the other 2 new ones to complete the set.
Thanks for the information as it was much appreciated.
Cheers Sandy

Hi Ian, I found them on the 1851 but it wasn't entirely helpful:
Braunston, Braunston Wharf, HO 107/1741 folio 517 pg 23 James STUBBS, head, mar, 47, malster (master), NTH Braunston Susanna STUBBS, wife, mar, 32, NTH Blisworth Ann STUBBS, daur, 1, NTH Braunston Mary A HALL, serv, 17, house servant, NTH Braunston.
There was also another Stubbs family in the High Street, Braunston: HO 107/1741 folio 527 pg 5 William STUBBS, head, mar, 66, surgeon RCS (general practitioner), NTH Braunston Susanna STUBBS, wife, mar, 50, WAR Sawbridge Susanna STUBBS, daur, unm, 27, NTH Braunston George TAYLOR, neph, unm, 18, visitor, NTH Harlestone.
No mention of the name of the pub unfortunately.
