John SHAW c1824

I am trying to find information about John Shaw, B C1824 in Weston, Herts and his wife Eliza B c1828 in Hitchin, Herts. Eliza's Maiden name and when they were married.

I am also interested in their son William Shaw, B 1850. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Ann,

According to the Allen Index, the 1846 marriage quoted by Isobelruss refers to the marriage of John Shaw and Sarah Halsey at Hitchin St.Marys on 23Feb1846.

Thank you Peter. That discounts that marriage. There was another marriage of a John Shaw in 1844 at Hitchin Hertfordshire. This could be another possible.

I think George and Jane Shaw may have been John's parents. I don't know if there is any parish records that could help.

Hi Ann,

I searched the Weston PRs and found a baptism for John SHAW   ...   20Jul1823 John s/o Joseph and Honour SHAW of Weston, a labourer.    Further searching revealed the marriage of Joseph and Honour BONFIELD at Weston 12Apr1823.   

No luck with the 1844 marriage at Weston or Hitchin St.Marys.   Reference is made to a marriage in the Shaw Family Tree on Ancestry - John SHAW/Eliza FARR at Hitchin 1844 and also the death of John at Hitchin in 1909.

Thank you for all your help Peter. It is a lot more than I had before and I thought that John might have married Eliza Farr in 1844 but wasn't certain.
