Margaret McTear = John Rainey1860
« on: Monday 27 August 07 21:54 UTC (UK) »

Margaret McTear age 23 and John Rainey age 24 married in Kirkmaiden in 1860. John was a seaman
and his Mothers maiden name was Janet Sproat.  Margaret's Mothers maiden name was Ronalds.
I found her under the name of Rennie in the 1861 census living in 100 Shore street and also when she registered the deaths of her Mother, Margaret in January 1863 and her Father, Robert in July 1863.
Any info of their whereabouts after these dates would be a great help.

Other names are McKenzie, McClure, Miller and Shaw.
William Millers 1st wife Mary McGee? and her children were killed in a house fire, possibly in the Wigtown area

When you saw Margaret in the 1861 census was John with her or at sea?

Hi,

Margaret was on her own (a wife of a seaman) though a lodger by the name of Jessie Gunnion age 14 was also living at the address.
I have found that there is different spellings for my names in this area.
Rainey becomes Rennie.
McIntyre becomes McTear/McTeer/McTier/

Cheers
