Hello Terie
Good luck with your question. I hope you have more success than I have had, that is finding a connection with your family. I must admit though that I got a great deal of help finding records etc. but I think everyone must have got up and left Inch, Stranraer and Stoneykirk, except yours and mine! My familys were Williamsons and Marshalls living in that area around the 1860s-1890s. Agriculture took a down turn then and people travelled to the towns and cities, which is well known. Can't understand why anyone left that area, its' really beautiful but quite isolated, I suppose. Good luck once again.

Hi There, I am not related to this family but I have offered to help a family friend in Dumfries who is,
I did find some posts about the family but they were 6 or 7 years old and I have not had a reply from the woman,
still hoping, and searching, Amanda.

Hello again Amanda
Another thought just struck me. Someone else who was very helpful to me on this website suggested I contacted "Talkingscot". It's a similar site to this one but just concentrates on Scotland. Similar format, register (free) and submit a post and wait. Very friendly site too.
Good luck once again.
Judy
