Well done Deb,
I think you are most probably right and that it is them even though Nancy was born in Devon the 1841 was invariably wrong with the place of birth. They are in the same area as The Countess as well so it certainly looks promising. Are there any others in the house?

Hi Rosie
They seem to be a couple by themselves but sharing a house with several others . These are the other people:
John Blake 36 M S Jane " 34 --- Henry Beadel 30 Guilder Sarah " 26 --- Arthur and Nancy --- John Bowket? 69 shoe maker --- Sarah Grestie/Crestie? 50 Widdow (sic) --- Mary Colkner? 50 --- Wm Lester 30 j. tallow m --- Richard Baker 22 M S --- Thomas Ortan 22 M S --- all born in county
deb
You mentioned that Nancy's parents were Hamiltons ....so the marriage is posted is not correct ...ie: Nancy Damerell

Deb
Thank you for all the information on the Hubbards, do you have the reference and page no for this so we can get a copy please.
Sorry, I meant (I think) the Earls wife was a Hamilton, also I now see from another page that the Earl had a family grave at Stanmore.

Hi Rosie
here is the ref.... HO107/675/6 fol 39 pg 73
In 1841 the Countess and her girls are in Cavendish square ... same area... the Countess has been transcribed as "Conntels Wicklan", their surname is Howard.

Hi Rosie
I was happy to help!
I have just spotted this on A2A ...I wonder if Arthur was mentioned in his will.
Will of Earl of Wicklow: proved in 1869 go to: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk ...type in Earl of Wicklow....
they also have "Howard, Family, Earl of Wicklows, title deeds and family papers, incl. personal diaries and misc. papers" ... maybe the Governor of the Chambers ~ Arthur Hubbard , was mentioned LOL

Hi Deb
I had only searched on G**gle I think thats where I found out about the grave (Vault). There seems quite a bit at the Met Archives and The National Archives for the Earl, I had temporarily forgotten about those pages on which I have found much on my Lancashire families when they were first launched. I will scrutinise them more thoroughly, I might convince my friend that a trip to Kew could be beneficial.
Many thanks Rosie
