As your the Scarborough Expert you wouldnt happen to know where the work house records are trying to find a burial of a thomas vasey who died there in 1858 Woodlands have no record of a burial for him wondered if you had an idea where he might be bin in touch with beverley records office and they have no record of a burial in the church closest to the workhouse.

Hi Shipwright

I don't really know where the work house records are but a good place to start would be perhaps the North Yorkshire Archives at Northallerton - http://archives.northyorks.gov.uk/DServe/

Best wishes

Hi Ticker

My line of SEDMANs descend from Robert Sedman of Suffield born in the late 1600s and moving through Hackness, Scalby and Lockton. If you know anything about the Sedmans from these areas I would be pleased to hear!!

Mine are from the same area but I haven't got back as far as you have!

My 7 x Great grandfather John Sedman of Everley died in 1709.  His son was Joseph (bapt 1688) and his son Thomas (bapt 1741 in Hackness).  Do these names mean anything to you?

Best wishes

You have probably already found this but ... ADA SEDMAN married Dec qtr 1910 in Scarborough

Hi Emma!

I've FINALLY got this one traced and it IS one of mine! She married a Henry Ogle at Scarborough Register Office, and the father was Thomas Sedman, a deceased cattle dealer.

Took a long time because I think that my 'mole's PC has been junking my emails!

Glad you got her nailed MT!! Was it the ADA born 1876??  If so, she made quite an 'old' bride for the times.
