« on: Thursday 30 August 07 03:00 BST (UK) »

I am searching for father of Wm. Day(b:abt1745??). Wm. had a daughter Mary that married 1777 in St. Michaels to Richard Hooker. Wm. Day was grandson to John Gunnell.I have not had any luck in finding info about John Gunnell either, but most interested in finding info on Wm. Day. thank-you for your time

Hi Krystal,

I found the Richard HOOKER marriage entry  in the St.Michaels  Parish Register      ...      Richard HOOKER  of the parish of Redbourn , bachelor and Mary DAY spinster of this parish were married by banns on 14th October 1777.  Witnesses William PEACOCK and Richard BUCOCK (both church officials).

Regret there was no trace of a baptism for Wm.DAY at St.Michaels.

Regards   ...   Peter

There is also a marriage in 1777 at St. Michaels betwen Richard Hooker and Mary Day. I have seen the marriage in Redbourn in the past. I just figured as  Childwick green is part of St. Albans that the St.  Michaels is the one I'm interested in. Childwick Green was mentioned as place of residence  at time of death for Wm. Day, through researching "Cross Keys Inn" in Luton, on George Street. Wms. daughter Mary (Day) Hooker inherited it in 1795. Then passed it to her daughter Cornelia (Hooker) Young. In 1747 Stephen and Elizabeth Chapman bought Cross Keys from J. Crawley. I thank-you for your efforts and think it a possibility that the Redbourne record could be the true connection. I will start to research them/her. As I cannot nail down the Richard Hooker that married her.Another genealogical mystery
