Johnwas born in 1721, perhaps in Canisbay. his parents were William and Mary (Margaret) Sinclair . they could hve come from Orkney.

Hi Frank,
William and Mary Sinclair are my gx6 grandparents and John and Bessie Rosie my gx5 grandparents.
I have a copy of extensive research on the children of William and Mary and their descendants with full references as to sources, done by another family member, but this was sent to me by her for my personal use only and I would not like to pass it on without her permission.
However I feel it would not be out of order to answer your question and say that William and Mary Sinclair were both also born on Stroma, Canisbay, and did not come from Orkney.
If you like I can get in touch with my contact, although it is 4 years since I last heard from her, and ask if she would mind me sending a copy of her research (it is a 37 page document) or else she could send it to you direct, assuming she is a Rootschatter. If she is I'm surprised she hasn't answered you herself.
Are you also a descendant of William and Mary? I'm sure she would like to know, and so would I. We could be related, even if very distantly!
Regards, Alastairgm.

Alastair
many thanks for your reply.
Bessie Rosie was my gmother x 5 so I reckon we could be 1st cousins five times removed but would have to check. I was not sure whether the Sinclair side came from Stroma or Orkney. i would certainly appreciate any help that you may offer and understand the need for keeping confidences.
perhaps  you could get in touch via email so i could share what I have
