Thank you Rainbowuk and Newf for all of your hard work here.
Newf - I think you are correct that Daniel is the father and that his wife was Elizabeth Balkham.
It is all getting very complicated but presumably Hannah Gascoigne and Elizabeth Gascoigne were sisters - I would be grateful for your opinion on this
Also, how does Mary S Balkham fit in?

probably best to start a new thread - but reference this one - with a specific to Balkham query ....
I havent seen a Hannah Gascoigne - or are you saying she is the Hannah Peskett on the 1851 ?

Yes - Hannah Gascoigne is the maiden name of the Hannah Peskett appearing in the 1851 census record.
Elizabeth Gascoigne was the mother of Elizabeth Balkham. I suspect that they were sisters but don't have parents for either of them, so cannot be certain about this.

well, that would certainly explain why Elizabeth Ackland neι Balkham named her son Gascoigne.
So you were aware of the Balkhams ?
Given that Elizabeth Balkham jnr was the NIECE in 1851, I'd say it was a hi prob that the blood line was to the AUNT Hannah - and thus Hannah was the sister of Elizabrth Snr.
No finds in the IGI then ?

I only became aware of the Balkhams from the 1851 census.
Elizabeth Balkham b25 May 1841 Louisa Balkham b09 Mar 1843 William Balkham b27 Feb 1845
all appear in the IGI all born @ St Marylebone
I don't yet know anything about their parents William Balkham and Elizabeth Gascoigne other than they were married 05 Apr 1841 at St Martain In The Fields.

No, he wasnt on the 1841 or 1851 census with the Lasham Family .... that Charles and Mary married 1825, so this Robert you show would most likely have been born before that to be marrying in 1841 ?
Think its cracked now tho - Daniel was the chap we needed !
Good site that - I've had results before !
