Hi thought I would have another try for a look up request,I have been searching for a marriage for William Taylor to a Mary Topping inbetween 1841 and 1846 William was born in Essex 1824 Mary was born in Wigton 1824,they are living in wigton in 1851 with there first son Alfred Taylor born 1846 carlisle George 1848 Leeds William 1850 Essex ,I have bought all the birth certificates and they all say father william taylor mother mary taylor formerly topping ,there was a marriage for a mary topping 1845 carlisle ,but when I bought that certificate it was to a john william dixon .I have posted this request a couple of times hoping 3rd time lucky

Hi there,

There is a marriage of a Mary Topping in Wigton district Mar 1839 (Wigton 25 125).  It would be a young marriage but not impossible.  FreeBMD lists four brides but only three grooms under this reference, so obviously there is a groom missing.  Have you ruled this marriage out?

looked good - but no William Taylor in the Full GRO Index with that Wigton Refn 1Q1839   Sad Sad

In the 1841 census Mary topping Is living in wigton  with her father joseph topping and family,I know her father was joseph because in 1856 william and mary moved to durham ,william died in 1858 and mary remarried in 1861 to a david smith on that marriage certificate it says mary taylor formerly topping father joseph topping,

On the "wrong" 1845 certificate, who was the father of Mary TOPPING?

Hmmm.  Oh well, it was a long shot Wink

The other thing I wondered was whether the marriage to Mr Dixon (he actually seems to have been John Milburn Dixon, rather than John William Dixon) might have been very short-lived, but there's no obvious sign of an early death for him or a remarriage of Mary as Dixon.

I'm stumped, for the time being Huh

on the 1845 certificate it has mary right age and father joseph topping but in the 1851 census that mary is still with john milburn dixon sorry not william taylor
