Northallerton Prison Fred Watson

Frederick William Watson born Wicklewood Norfolk 1874, who then moved to Hull,  was a prison warder in Northallerton Prison [Also Durham and Wakefield] I have been informed that the Home Office in London has destroyred all of the old prison officers records???

I can't even find him on the census'?

Can anyone help?

He has been wrongly transcribed in 1991. I think this is him:

Am quite relieved he wasn't in charge of Northallerton Prison in 1891 as my 2 x great granny was one of the inmates at the time!

                 Thanks for this....my version of Ancestry (at my local library) has the wrong link for the family on the 1901 census???

With regard to your Northallerton 'inmate'....don't worry about it! My G/Grandfather (Mum's side) was transported to West Australia (returned to UK in 1870)......and two of his descendants became policemen in North Yorkshire!

He is still in Hull in 1901. I did look just to make sure he hadn't gone off to be in charge of my family villain.

My mother refuses to believe any ill of her ancestors but it is true. I think it adds more colour to the whole picture.
