George Atkinson Alderson
« on: Saturday 01 September 07 14:18 BST (UK) »

George married (for the first time) in Q4 1859. The married was registered at St Marin in the Fields, Middlesex.

However, on Free BMD, there are two males on that page and only one woman - a Mary Walton.

The 1861 Census is of no help in finding his wifes name, for various reasons.

Can anybody find out who George married?

Of course, the only way to be certain who George married is to purchase the certificate, but this may give further clues

Free BMD marriages
Dec qtr 1859
St martins
on same page
George Atkinson Alderson
John Bumstead
Mary Walton
Vol 1a page 574

Dec qtr 1859
St martins
only one on page
Frances Emma Carrick
Vol 1a page 514
(page no may be mistranscribed)

1861
Arlington St
Islington
John Bumstead head 28 St james
Frances E wife 36 St Anns
Henry C Carrick son in law 17 Marylebone
RG9 146 103 33

So it seems a possibility that John Bumstead m Frances Emma Carrick, thus leaving mary Walton to be the one who married George

as i mentioned, only the certificate will verify this, but it does look a possibility???

Thanks Suz - I like that reasoning.

But as you say, the only way to be sure is to buy the certificate!!
