Hi Lovey,

Have you managed to identify John Bennett on the Commonwealth Graves Commission website?

http://www.cwgc.org/debt_of_honour.asp

I had a look but there are a few John Bennetts all killed in 1944 so without knowing his exact date of death or which regiment he was in, it's difficult to say which one would be 'yours'.

When you say Jessie Ann was buried at St. Ninian's - do you know any details of her burial? To my knowledge, the only cemetery in the St. Ninian's vicinity is Bannockburn, or one of the cemeteries up at Stirling Castle?

If you were to contact the office at the following link:

http://www.stirling.gov.uk/index/your_life/bereavement/cemetries.htm

they hopefully would be able to verfy where she was bured and give you a note of not only which cemetery, but the Section and lair number too.

Any information other than that, you won't be able to access unless you were to go to Edinburgh or get a researcher to look for you - it's all much too recent.

Anne

Hi Anne

thanks for the reply ,  I located James Bennett from the seaforth Highlanders he was a sargent,  born 1910 died 1944 spouse Jessie Ann Dawson, She was buried at Enzie, !but died in weston house Keith, which i believe was a care home i am waiting for her death certificate maybe that will give me more info on them both, If James Bennett was not scottish could he still be in the Seaforth or do you have to be scottish to be in it. lovey

I apologise for getting the name wrong! here was me rabbiting on about John when it should have been James . . . . .  that'll teach me to read things thoroughly!!
