Looking for any information on Ernest George Theobald, who married Rebecca Ada Pitty in 1916 in Reading. I had heard he was a vicar, but have not been able to confirm this. Any information much apprecuated

Are you looking back from 1916 towards his ancestry or forwards towards his clerical career?
He is probably the Ernest George Theobald who was born in Jun 1889 in Henley.
Early Crockford's would help you with his career; their first child, Derek, was born in Mar 1916 (don't worry: they actually married in Jun 1915!).

They are both on the 1891 census: she the daughter of a gardener, Henry and Rebecca; he the son of a grocer's manager in Caversham, William and Blanche.
