I am looking for Charles Glasby born 1863 Mosboro hopefully son of Joseph Glasby born c1840 Renishaw.

looks like Charles is with his Uncle John and Aunt Eliza in 1871 -the same as 1881.
Looks like a purchase of birth cert is necessary

Hi,
Think it good idea to purchase certificate for Charles Glasby June Q 1863 Chesterfield,
as Joseph Glassby & Selina who married 1862 have a child Registered Mar Q 1863 Chesterfield
as Rosanna Glasby on IGI as Rose Hannah 24.4.1864 Eckington, Derbys. Odd they do not
appear to have had Charles Bpt.
Have you considered possibility that Charles was illegitimate son of Sarah Ann B 1838 or
Hannah B 1843, siblings of John Gunby Glassby B 1825 and Joseph B 1840. All these
on IGI children of Thomas Glasby & Elizabeth Gunby who married 23.11.1820 Finningley, Nottingham.

Thank you for the information. It's certainly more for me to work with.
Charles was not staying with who I thought were his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth, in 1871 so I am speculative as to who his parents were. As you say he could well have been illegitimate.
I clearly need to delve deeper.
