Marriage look-up for Cambridgeshire 1880-1905 - Completed

Hi, I'm trying to find a marriage for George Marshall born 1865 in Manea. Parents James and Emily. He may have married a Hannah. It most likely would have taken place sometime between 1880 - 1905. Thanks.

I can see 2 marriages, one in 1890 and one in 1892.

Given he's married on the 1891 census, I'd say:
Dec 1890 N Witchford 3b 1317
George Marshall - Hannah Smart

If the 1901 census is anything to go by she was born Welney 1869 ish
on the 1881 census Hannah Smart born 1870 Welney, parents George and Hannah Smart

Okay, thanks to both of you. I know that there were 2 George Marshalls born in Manea around 1865 so I was trying to determine if the George Marshall who married Hannah was my George Marshall or the other one. It seems likely he's the one I'm looking for though. Maybe I will order that marriage certificate just so that I'll know for sure.

What I see in 1891:
One George Marshall born ca. 1865, unmarried and boarding in Attercliffe Yorkshire
One George Marshall born ca. 1865 Cambridge*, living with parents James and Emily in Manea
One George Marshall born ca. 1865 Manea, married to Hannah and with a young daughter Alice

So yours is the one born Cambridge after all maybe? Huh

Rather than ordering a marriage cert, you'd better get hold of a birth cert for one of the children. I take it you are not aware of any children born before the 1901 census? Undecided

What makes you say he was possibly married to a Hannah?

*unless the "do." is unclear on the image and it should ditto Manea instead of Cambridge? Can you have a look, Ricky? What do you think?

My god, I see 2 George Marshall's born Manea are married to Hannah's in 1901! Tongue

There's still the one who was already married to a Hannah in 1891.

Then there's one married to a Hannah M, living at Leverington
(and I see a marriage Dec 1892 North Witchford, 3b 1366 between George Marshall and Hannah Mary Hicks), children James E age 7, Leslie H age 6, Cyril G age 5 and Altha M age 3.
Do the latter names ring any bells?

The one that says born Cambridge 1891
says born Manea on the 1881,
but there are loads of Marshall's about nearly all with the same names Shocked

I know! This is the problem I'm having. Everyone seems to repeat the same names when naming their children. My George is the one born to Emily and James. The only reason I think he married a Hannah was that I saw it mentioned on someone else's genealogy webpage (for a family that George's sister married into) Maybe I'll contact them to see what their source was. Anyway, it's possible that info was inaccurate. I did find some christening records for Ada, Albert, Olive, Daisy and Russell all born to George and Hannah between 1902 - 1910. All in Manea. But now I'm not even sure which George and Hannah this is. How weird! I guess the marriage record that lists George's father should give me the answer. I suppose it's also possible that my George Marshall never even got married. My father seems to think he became a preacher and I have found no record of that anywhere. It you turn up anything else please let me know. You have both been wonderful!

I just re-read Tati's post. So I can say for sure the George married to Hannah in 1891 is not mine as mine is still living with his parents. So it's possible he's the one married later to Hannah Hicks. But then who is the other George and Hannah with all those other kids I just posted? Do either of you know if there are any other census out there for after 1901?? This so hard to keep straight in my mind.... Tongue

As far as I know there are no more census's after the 1901 the next one is 1911 and thats not due out for another 3 or 4 years. Are you working back from your parents and then their parents, which is the best way of doing it.
