looking for DUHY of Limerick
« on: Wednesday 05 September 07 16:07 UTC (UK) »

Looking for the marriage of John Duhy and Mary Hill of Limerick, married before 1788.
Also looking for the birth of their son Charles William Duhy, born 1788 in Limerick or any other children they may have had.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello eilburas,

What denomination were John and Mary? Were they members of the Catholic faith, the Established Church (Anglicans or Church of Ireland), Methodists or members of the Presbyterian Church?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.
