Could anyone with 1841 Census help with a look-up please?
Looking for family of James GADD born abt.1824 Market Drayton, Shropshire. Unfortunately little info on parents. He was sentenced to 7 years gaol in 1848 at Shrewsbury if that narrows it down. He was sent to Australia in 1850 so that's why I thought I might pick him up on 1841!! Perhaps.

Hi DMC
I can't find a likely James or Jas Gadd/Gad on the 1841 and nothing on the IGI for a baptism in Market Drayton. Where did the information about his place of birth come from? Also, where was he living when he was sentenced in Shrewsbury - any bit of info might help

Birth details from First Families 2001. Still waiting on marrriage/death certificate. Not sure where living when sentenced. Only going by Tasmanian Convict Index. When I receive the various certs. I may have further info for you.

Hello Gadget,
Don't know if this helps with census look-up but I believe James/Jas Gadd/Gad parents were Thomas Gad & Elizabeth Banks (found on death historical index of Jas Gadd) which appear to be married in Market Drayton and had another 6 children at Market Drayton, but no James! I have found a Thomas Gadd that death occurred March 1856 Shrewsbury (6a 440) on Free BMD, but not sure if this is the my family as yet. Also going by my last bit of info James may have been born later around 1827 stated on death index but you know how accurate they can be. Be in touch if get closer.
