Marriage c1800 Bridlington?

Can anybody please find this marriage in East Yorkshire.

John Morris born Flamborough to Elizabeth Holtby of Bridlington (father William Holtby) John was or

became a surgeon & all the children were born in Bridlington. First child Holtby Morris born 1802. I

am guessing the marriage was about 1800 but I can't find it for Bridlington! Any help much

appreciated

Can I just ask - when you say you can't find the marriage in Bridlington, where have you looked? Have you just checked the IGI or have you also checked the parish records? I don't want to go over ground you've already covered.

I checked the Flamborough PRs and the Bridlington St Mary Priory PRs this morning - no sign of the marriage, I'm afraid.

Thanks for looking at Bridlington & Flambro, I'd tried Bridlington Priory but hadn't had any luck. I can't think where else unless she married at Carnaby where her brother- in- law George Robinson
lived at Carnaby House with his wife Ellen Holtby. Would Hull be a possibility as John Morris was or became a surgeon?

This is probably totally irrelevant but is there any connection to the novelist Winifred Holtby? She came from the Rudston area which I think I'm right in saying is very near Bridlington.

She was a bit later than your Elizabeth and Ellen but you never know!

I wondered if Winifred Holtby was any connections but decided she wasn't. Elizabeth Holtby & her 2

sisters were the only children of William Holtby who died in Bridlington in 1823. As far as I am aware

that is the end of my Holtby family--there being no male to carry this bit foreward.
