I am looking for a baptism of Hugh Partridge b 1793/1796 Filgrave, Bucks. He is a widower, living at Scald End Thurleigh Beds from 1841 onwards.
He may have sister Frances, but not sure. There was a Frances b 1796 Filgrave Bucks, wife of Samuel Gammons living at Park End, Thurleigh from 1841 onwards.
Thanks John

Could they be related to James & Sarah Partridge from Emberton who had Settlement Filgrave 1782 according to Bucks FHS's Poor Law records.

Thought I would have a dig about for you this morning and this is what I came up with..
May 25 1794 Hugh son of James & Elizabeth Partridge bapt. Other children that were readable! are.. John July 5th 1787 Thomas Oct 26 1788 Edward Aug 9 1798 George Oct 31 1790 Lydia June 22 1792.
Couple of burials...... John Partridge bur Aug 17 1798 no age given Lydia Partridge infant pauper bur Sep 4 1792 Elizabeth Partridge infant bur Jan 12 1784.
All of the above are in Tryingham cum Filgrave. 1798 Posse comititatus states James a labourer of TYRINGHAM. I found a marriage for the son Edward... Edward Partridge to Sarah Abrahams 11 Feb 1824 both otp witnessed by Wm Abrahams & Kerrenappuck Abrahams.
Had alook in Emberton for the marriage of the parents but no luck there so are they the couple who marry in Wilden in 1772? Did find two Partridge marriages in Emberton ....
Thomas Partridge otp to Chris Turner otp 5 Dec 1782 by banns ...banns read 10/17/24 Nov. witnessed by Will. Bach. & Edward Hobbs.
Jacob Partridge of ODELL Beds to Sarah DIXON otp 4 Aug 1771 by banns... banns read 30 June 7/14 July witnessed by Thom Partridge & Edward Hobbs. Thiis marriage is given as a member sub on IGI stating 28 July 1771 Odell to Sarah Dickson. But we know how we feel about member subs don't we .
Thanks Tazzie for doing that - I was thinking of going over to MK library one day to take a look at the PR, is that where you went ?
Perhaps one of the unreadible entries could be sister Frances ?
I will take a look at the Wilden marriage entry sometime to see if there is any other info - there are 2 baptisms of children at Wilden for them in 1772 & 1774, & that's all. And 1772 seems early if the children you found at Filgrave start from 1788.

Yep have been into Milton Keynes the last couple of weeks it has been very quiet and had the time to spend having a good look for a change was in there for about 3 hours yesterday had the film & fiche to my self so got lots done with a family of mine in Iver until I lost them about 1730.... it was going too well!
I see what you mean with regard to Wilden as they have two there for a James & Elizabeth 1772/76. The print has copied onto film well on some pages but also the dark colour of the parchment pages has transposed so darkens the whole page. If you need any more just shout....
Thurleigh PR has baptisms & burials of children of Hugh & Elizabeth Partridge between 1818 - 1823. Also a burial of Elizabeth P on 3 June 1833 age 43 who could be his wife.
I notice on the IGI a marriage of Hugh Partridge to Elizabeth Bosworth on 27 Mar 1815 at Weston Underwood and that's just across the fields (OK & across the river somehow) from Filgrave. So this could be them ? If you get the chance while at MK library to check the W U marriage records I'd be grateful.
There is also a Mary P who married a Samuel Robinson at W U on 14 June 1819.
IGI also has a couple of Partridges married at Emberton, in 1744 & 1736.
Thanks John

You caught me on the right day today as I just saw you message before heading out.
Ok here goes....
Hugh Partridge x of Tyringham Elizabeth Bosworth x otp witnesses Elizabeth Partridge Leonard Lord p. clerk
found this in baptisms as well...
1817 March 9 James Partridge Ormes mother Mary Partridge lace maker.
Over to Emberton....
marriage of 1736.....one line in the book to any occurance at this point. can confirm Thomas Wood to Mary Partridge ( no parish info) marriage of 1744...totally unreadable.
wonder if this is of any use....
Poss Comitatus....
Edward Partridge labourer of Lavendon James Partridge labourer of Tyringham John PARKERIDGE! Labourer of Newport Pagnell ( name very close) Thomas Partrige Labourer of Emberton ( spelling change) William Partridge Servant of Ravenstone.
Before I left I had a peak in the books for Olney....lots of entries there.. even a Hugh Partridge in 1672. If you think this are connected let me know and I will have another look.
Thanks Tazzie for all that. I will investigate further.
I was looking on 1851 census earlier today & found a Mary Robinson age 59, Widow, born Newport Pagnell, lodging in Newport Pagnell, in same household is a Josiah Partridge visitor age 9 scholar, born NP. Now the fact there is a Partridge in same place makes me suspect she could be the wife of Samuel Robinson who married in Weston Underwood. But we need more proof.
Speak to you later.

Someone in Nebraska has just emailed me the family line of Thomas Symants who married Mary Ann Gammons, & tells me ....
......... Samuel Gammons married Frances WADSWORTH
Grateful for a revisit, Tazzie, to check on any evidence of this. Of course it may have been in Beds, their first child was baptised Ravensden 1821

Heh not Lisco Nebraska by chance .... founded by distant rellies ...
School hols this week so once they go back I will be heading to the centre again. Going to the Oxon fair at Kidlington on Sunday I have a few strays to follow.
Well they did not tie the knot in Tyringham cum Filgrave as there was nothing for Gammons in that time frame. Just to double check as you said Ravensden ( Beds) as there is Ravenstone ( Bucks).
Do you think Olney would be worth a look? Can do that?
Thanks for looking Tazzie - you could check Olney when you're next in.
Yes it was Ravenden, Beds where they started the family. I will have to check that when I visit Beds Archives. I may do that Tuesday.
