Hi Junket
You don't say what exactly that you want to know. It is quite a well known family and Googling Mohun +Cornwall brings up a lot of hits. For example:
http://patp.us/genealogy/bio/mohun_cornwall.aspx
might give you some information on the early centuries

Hi gadget,
I am specifically loooking for a connection, between the Prater family of Wiltshire and the Mohun family, in Cornwall, which may lead me to a connection between the Prater family in Cornwall.
William Prater, of Newlyn East, is reputed, to have been born in Wiltshire and was left land in Cornwall.
I was looking at a Prater, who leased land from Carolyn of Trerehan and Mohun is a name which cropped up.
There was also a Mohun family mentioned in the Wiltshire Prater family area.
Gosh I hope this makes sense.

Yep - it makes sense
I had a similar problem with one of OHs families - trying to find the Wiltshire/Cornwall link.
I'll see what I can find but probably someone else might have more info.

I am no Historian, ( History was one of my worst subjects, at school ), but I am trying to improve my knowledge.
I have ploughed through my notes and found this...............
The came the news that the Cornishmen under Arundell has re-formed and taken position at Sampford Courtenay, the little village some fifteen miles north west of Exeter. Russell advanced with his troups, now reinforced with a strong contingent of Welshmen. After a desperate fight stormed the village on the evening of August 17th The rebels were finally broken, though most of them escaped in the dusk, including Arundell, who fled to Launceston. There he was to be captured and taken to London with Winslade, who was caught at Bodmin. Winter Arundell and Winslade with two of their devonshire comrades were hanged and dismembered at Tyburn. Sir Gawen Carew got all Arundells estates, and Sir Peter all Winslade's, save Tregarrick and other Cornish manors that he had made over to his wife. She married again, her husband, John Trevanion, made sure that her son William never came into his father's estates. He sold them to the Bullers, Mohuns and Trelawnys, and William Winslade an impoverished Catholic exile, led a walking life with his harp to gentleman's houses. Russell got the Earldom of Bedford and another vast grant of lands, including Boconnoc. Russell left the agreeable task of finally settling the scores with the Cornish to Sir Anthony Kingston. A number of priests were hunged, including Richard Bennet, vicar of St Veep
I copied this, as it mentions the names Kingston, Carew and Mohun...all names linked to the Praters, by other researchers. Especially Sir Anthony Kingston ( I have a seperate post requesting info on him ).
The Arundell name, features in the tenements leases of the Praters, from Newlyn East., held in CRO., which could be my next move.
I may have to ask, some kind person, on here for help, with that one.
