Does anyone have access to the Bedfordshire Bastardy Bonds, in particular for Greenfield, Beds?

I am trying to look up the registration of Dorothy Maud Weston-Downing b. 10 January 1903.  Mother:  Charlotte Weston.  Father:  William Walter Downing.  The parents did not marry until June Quarter 1903 so would be interested to know if there is a story here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Was the child's christening delayed until after the parents married?  I expect it probably was [unless there were concerns for her health] but occassionaly the vicar adds something when parents are not married  ... the interesting thing was that they delayed the marriage until daughter was born.

Was the father a soldier?  This is the South African [Boer War] era etc - just a thought.

I dont know how to find Military guys from that time in the National Archives.

Have you got her  birth cert?
I think Greenfield would be in the Ampthill registration district so how about this birth,

Dorothy Maud WESTON  Mar Q  1903  Ampthill  v.3b  p.344
