Hi Everyone

Would it be possible to look for a baptism of Susannah Harrison b 1864 Easton on the Hill. GRO entry is for the September quarter (if I have right one)

Mother believed to be Sarah Elizabeth Harrison and it is possible the father was John Rayson. Confirmation of this would be brilliant

Father unlikely to be John Rayson in view of this 1871 entry for Easton.  All b Easton except John

John Rayson 29 b Kingscliffe
Sarah 26
Frank son 3
Lizzie daughter 1
Susannah Harrison 6 wifes daughter


Marriages Jun 1866 
 
Harrison  Sarah E    Stamford  7a 506   
Rayson  John     Stamford  7a 506

More likely she was Sarah's illegitimate daughter by somebody else.  You would need to know which church she was baptised in and roughly when as baptisms could take place weeks, months or even years after a birth so it could be a long and possibly fruitless search of parish records

Easier to buy a copy of the birth cert and put a condition on your application that you only want it if her mother was Sarah.  If it's the wrong one, they will only charge a search fee of £3-4

Many thanks for the information, I will order the certificate.

The Parish Church is All Saints and I believe this is the only Church in the village

The hope was that at the time of the baptism, the vicar had included a note regardine the possible father
