McGuire of Roscommon
« on: Monday 17 September 07 19:34 UTC (UK) »

I think I’ve found *my* Charles McGuire on the 1901 census, living at Cornagee, in the Civil Parish of Kilronan in the Barony of Boyle in the County of Roscommon.

He was 18yo on the 1901 census. On his 1908 Scottish marriage certificate, he was 21yo and he gave his parents names as John McGuire and Catherine Beheny.

So he was born sometime between 1883 and 1887.

What’s the best way to get a copy of his Irish birth certificate?  Will it show the names of both his parents?

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance (hope someone is on board!!)

Irish birth certificate will give date and place of birth, parents (including mother's maiden name), father's occupation, name of informant (parent or person present at birth).

IGI lists other children (Irish births on IGI only go up to c1884) of John McGuire & Catherine BREHENY:
1. Mary Ann born 11 Mar.1865 Keadew, Roscommon (mother Breheney).
2. Michael born 28 Oct.1866 Co. Roscommon.
3. Peter born 14 Sept.1873 Co. Roscommon.
4. John born 10 May 1875 Co. Roscommon.
5. Winefred born 18 Aug.1879 Curnagreen, Roscommon.

Thank you, aghadowey, I have the above information but now I’m trying to prove that *my* Charles McGuire is the son of John McGuire and Catherine Beheny.

I think the only way to do that is to get a copy of his birth certificate.

So what’s the best/cheapest/quickest way to do that – as I’m not 100% sure of his birthdate?

Thanks again!
