His marriage cert will give his father's name, if one was named, and his birth cert will give the names of both parents, again presupposing that he wasn't illegitimate

Hello, marriage cert arrived for Charles Deer. Father listed as David Colbert.

David Colbert is the husband of Mary Deer ( Charles mother ).
They were married in 1842 Sawtry, Huntingdonshire.

Have made enquiries for a bith cert to lay the matter to rest- or maybe find a new mystery to solve.

I had hoped by posting two enquires ( casting the net bigger  ) I might have got a response from you wonderful people  that's all.
