looking for connections tomy grandfather, Walter Parish, he came to Canada in the 1850's from Bury St. Edmunds,  believe his parents were Thomas and Sophia (nee Lock) Parish

Do you have any approximate dates of birth for either Walter, Thomas and Sophie? Have you tried searching for a birth certificate at www.1837online.co.uk Huh

There were definitely Lock families in Bury St Edmunds:
Pigots 1823 - 1824 database data

Hello and thanks for reply

I know that Walter was born in 1834, I believe December 15 was the day.  All I know is his parents were married in 1818.  Born in the 1790's  Walter was only one of many children, I believe more than a dozen at least.

I am fairly new to alot of this on-line stuff, but was is Pigot 1823-1824.  I will also look at the site you gave me, not sure I've been there yet.

Hi Shelley

There isn't a Walter PARISH of around 16 on the Suffolk 1851Census Index, and the only one with a Bury St Edmunds connection is aged 20.  He is living with William & Elizabeth PARISH.  HO107/1792 Folio 433.

Perhaps he came to Canada earlier than you thought?
