Need a wee bit of help here. I have been looking for the marriage of Ronald macdonald to Christy, found an entry on the IGI for 1819, however she is not with him on the 41 census, and it appears that he married a Margaret Macdonald in 1850.I am looking to find his parents and who Christy was. On his son Kenneths death cert, a Peggy macdonald is recorded as his mother, despite his birth saying Christy.(They've certainly made us work)Should have said Im looking in Sleat

From the IGI, Christy and Ronald appear to have had the following children in Sleat:
1816 - Hector 1818 - James 1820 - Alexander 1822 - Kenneth 1825 - John
They might also have had daughters but they are not showing
there is the bpt. of an Alexander Macdonald, Sleat in 1815 - parents - Ronald MacDonald and Margaret McGillivray.
Could this pair have had a son, Kenneth, and you might have got the wrong death

Hi Gadget, Its information on Ronald and Christy I'm looking for, I am sure the Kenneth born to them in 1822,he married a Catherine McMillan is the right one, his death cert ties in with that. I can find no birth for Ronald only a possible death in 1864, on it his parents are an Angus mcd. and margaret mcInnes. There seems to be no info on Christy, and as I said he appears to have married again in 1850 to margaret Mcdonald who died in 1868 aged 60. Theres a big age gap between them. They are on the census together in 1861 with son Kenneth and another.

Hi Iona
I've checked all marriages and births from my sources for Ronald/Ranald and Christy/Christian,etc. and can only come up with the baptisms of possible children (1816- 1825, Sleat) that I found last night.
It is quite likely that their marriage was 'irregular'. Perfectly legal but not performed by a C of S minister.
Sorry
