Hi Longberry

I presume you have their marriage cert from Scotland's people www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk? It will cost 6 units (£1.20).

This will give you the name of her parents and her age at marriage. There are a few Jemima'sshowing on the IGI but without a dofB, it's difficult to say if any of them are her.

Do you have any other information - children, etc. The various census information can also be checked, if you don't have access.

I did have a look at the cert. It was very poor but I managed to see her parents' names   Smiley  You could contact SP (via their contact form)  and ask for a decent copy. They are very good.

Am i safe in assuming that William died between 1836 and 1841. That was the year of his son.s birth and the Census.
Was it common practice in the Census to use the wifes maiden name?
Hope you had a nice Christmas?
