Easington by Guisborough or Loftus
« on: Tuesday 25 September 07 06:56 BST (UK) »

I have my ggggrandparents John Rodgers (Rogers) and Hannah Forth both born Loftus  abt 1786, but married Easington by Guisborough 1816.  First daughter Margaret born Easington by Guisborough 1816.   I am trying to find John and Hannah's births.  Which Parish records can help me with this and where can I get hold of them.  I can't search them myself as I am in Australia.  If someone can help me with this I would be most grateful.

Hi
I would think that the original registers for these will be at the Cleveland Archives office in Middlesbrough or if not then in Northallerton.   Have you looked at the IGI on www.familysearch.org?     The LDS church also have films of most parishes which you can search at your leisure at your nearest LDS history centre.  They are worldwide and listed on familysearch.  There are some rootschatters who live in or near Middlesbrough so they might do a look up for you if you put on a specific post - if they don't pick this one up.  Have a look at Genuki for further information about the area.

A lovely part of the country.

Hi Andrea,

Thanks so much for the information. I didn't realise I could search the records myself through LDS.  Have now been in touch with my nearest family history centre and will arrange to search the records.   Very much appreciated.
