Hi Janie,
His name was Jabez Walter BARTLETT but not sure which part of glasgow. Occupation listed as  Food Preserved Provision Manufacturer

Two of his children were born there.1910 / 1912
One in (looks like) North St- Anderston and one (looks like) Blythsword.

Hi June

First of all my sister in law like me remembers the prouduce but does not remember it being made in the Co-op

I now suggest that you put a message on the Glasgow and West of Scotland Family History Site which is www.gwsfhs.org.uk giving as much information as possible and I am positive that someone will have the information you require.
You can also do a search using the words Glasgow Business Archives again someone there maybe able to help.

One of the addresses you mentioned should have read Blythswood which like North St is in the centre of Glasgow

Good luck in your search and please let me know how you get on.

Glad this has been resurrected (spelling?) June, did you ever find what you wanted about the food trade?

Unfortunately no - I cant find anything about grandfather and his connection to 'Chef"brand foods. Ive done extensive searching and almost 'Googled out" so to speak.I keep hoping someone will  come up with a  suggestion as to what I should do next.My fingers are crossed
