DEAN of FULBOURN
« on: Tuesday 25 September 07 19:26 BST (UK) »

Does anyone have access to the Fulbourn records for the latter part of the 1850s? Mine only go as far as 1851. I would like to find a baptism - not sure if it was All Saints or St Vigor - for a John David/David John/David DEAN about 1859.

Thanks!

Kind regards,

Heatha.

Have you seen these submitted entries on the IGI at www.familysearch.org - suggests somebody else is researching the same family

John David Dean  Birth:  21 MAR 1859   Fulbourn Cambridge,

Father:  Charles Dean     Mother:  Harriet

CHARLES DEAN    Father:  WILLIAM
Marriages:
Spouse:  HARRIET LEE    Marriage:  13 NOV 1846   All Saints, Fulbourn Cambridge

If you do a parent search on the IGI you will find several other children born to Charles & Harriet

PARENT SEARCH ON IGI

www.familysearch.org - On home page - click on  “Advanced Search” to the right of the blue SEARCH button

Select “International Genealogical Index” from the left hand menu

Input fathers name and surname BUT only put mothers christian name as not all entries have the maiden name

REGION – select British Isles from the menu

COUNTRY – select England
COUNTY (will appear when you select COUNTRY)  – select Cambridge

Yes, thanks for that. If you hadn't noticed, there is no batch number to supprt the entry. I am told that the entry is inaccurate and that it should read John Daniel DEAN. There was also a John David DEAN born at about the same time. He may well have been known as David, rather than John, as he seems to be part of a family who were known by their second Christian names.

John David and John Daniel are two separate individuals as both their marriages have been traced.

So ... I'm still searching!

Kind regards,

Heatha.

Carole had noticed, which is why she flagged it was a submitted entry, therefore unreliable, as opposed to it being an extracted entry, which is reliable.

Even though there is a batch number doesn't make it reliable - "A"  batch numbers are member submissions, and "I" batch numbers are also questionable

As the birth of John David was registered in the Sept quarter 1859 it does seem as though a March 1859 baptism is an error

Daniel John Dean appears in 1861 aged 2 as son of Charles and Harriet. Also living in Fulbourn was David Dean aged 1 son of David and Sarah

Yes, David, I have folowed this link. There is yet another John David, or David, Dean, who marrued Selina Alice Rawlinson in the last quarter of 1881. In the 1891 census his place of birth is given as Fulbourn. This is the John/David whom I am trying to trace.

Charles and Harriet's son married Annie Belstone in Sussex in 1887.

Kind regards,

There was a David Dean born 1857 who married Louisa Peters in 1883 and was age 35 in 1891

Then there was John David who married Selina and was age 32 in 1891 - isn't he likely to be the David aged 1 in 1861?

The only sure way to separate them is to buy the marriage cert which will give you his father's name.

That's what I think. Since it's not my direct family I'm a bit loathe to buy the certificate. I have many more, in my wish list, higher up the priority list!

Kind regards,

Heatha.
